Are you a bride and want a specific look for you special day? No problem! I love to step outside of the box; create and recreate. We can do it together!

Here's a fun game. Compare the pictures below. Can you guess which one is my muse and which is the copied picture?

The Makeup Girl Is Back!

To all my makeupistas!

I've missed you too! I'm back and completely worn out from a crazy but exciting wedding season!! We just wrapped up last weekend with three blushing brides who all looked amazing. Katrina Boren dazzeled in her chocolate smoky eye look, Jennifer Harvey looked beautifly perfect in her pouty peach lips, and Amanda Valientine's dewy, bronze skin was picture perfect!

Congratulations to Mary Foster for winning the free bridal makeup package at Perfect Wedding Guide's Bridal Show! The bridal show was a complete blast. Especially when PWG turned up the volume for the wedding dress fashion show; gorgeous dresses galore!

Let's talk Betsey; Betsey Johnson that is. As some of you may know, Betsey Johnson is my favorite designer in the whole world! So when I was asked to do the makeup for the Betsey Johnson segment of the Rocken Fashion Show this Saturday I said, "Hollla! Sign me up." So I went looking for Betsey makeup ideas. Below is what I came up with. This should be fun! If you're interested in attending the fashion show, please contact me through my website at http://www.deannasmakeup.com/.

These are a few of my favorite things.....

Being in the cosmetics industry and "talking" makeup day in and day out, you eventually end up trying just about every product out there. Friends and family come to me every day with questions like, "What can I do for this? Or how can I cover that?" Here is a list of old favorites along with some newbie’s that I can't get enough of. And just in case you're wondering, no, I'm not being paid to endorse these……..much ;)

M.A.C. paint in "Bare"
I don't know about you, but I have just about the oiliest eyelids around. I've tried countless products to keep my eye makeup on and creaseless. But it never fails, after a few hours, the shadow starts to gather up into those pesky little creases. Until now that is. I just smear the "Bare" all over my lid and into my crease. Shadow stays put all day. I promise you.

Bobbi Brown Long Wear gel eyeliner
These come in about 14 different colors. They're so perfect because they glide on easily and, GASP, they actually stay on. Imagine that, eyeliner that stays on. And I even use them in the water lines too. Strong color, no pulling and yanking, and stays on. What more could you ask for?

NARS eyeshadows
Ok, ok, so those of you who know me know that I have enough NARS in my case to open a small kiosk. Perhaps I'm a just little biased BUT that should not, in any way, take away from how wonderful these shadows are. Pigment, pigment, pigment. That's what you get with these shadows. They go on easily, blend well and last for what seems like an eternity. Not to mention they have something like a hundred and fifty colors! Yes, they are a little pricy, but if you consider per use, not really. So check them out and enjoy.

Lastly........
YSL's TOUCHE ÉCLAT
Pronounced [tu-shea e-claw], this brightener is often imitated but never duplicated. For under the eyes, around the lips, and down the nose, this pen not only conceals but reflects light perfectly away from the area to disguise bags & fine lines or to pout out those lips. For the makeupista on a budget, try Smashbox's double ended eye brightener.

Bride’s weekly tip: Sometimes the best solution for your skin comes from within. Of course you're going to look stunning on your wedding day, but don't forget to drink plenty of water and get ample sleep the week prior. This will help you to not only look your best walking down the aisle, but feel your best too!

Makeup around the city....

Hello everyone!

It's been such a busy week in the makeup world! First stop, Halls on the Country Club Plaza. I'd like to thank Patsy at Darphin for putting on yet another spectacular national color event. Your hard work and dedication has been truly inspiring. Also, I'd like to thank all the wonderful women who came to the event. You're all beautiful in so many ways.

The Truman Fashion For a Cause went off without a hitch thanks to Corinne McCanse and hundreds of other's who made it happen. The fashion show was to benefit women's health programs. I was proud to be backstage all day making up the models for the fashion show. The focus was on gorgeous, pouty lips and, wow, it looked great on the stage! Pics from Tom Foley Photography soon to come.

Tuesday was the big photo shoot for Kansas City's local wedding magazine, Perfect Wedding Guide. Be sure to look for the next guide coming out. In the middle, there will be a 12 page spread of the most beautiful gowns the city has to offer. AND of course, makeup by Deanna Valizan. ;)

What's coming up......
Ever think about becoming a makeup artist? The style gallery will be hosting a series of workshops to train you on makeup application and how-to's on getting into the industry. And, you guessed it, I'll be the instructor. Here is the link for more information.

Tip of the week for brides....
Hello my lovely brides. You're wedding day is the one day when sunscreen is not your friend. Avoid the urge to wear anything that contains even a small amount of SPF. SPF reflects poorly in flash photography.

Thanks ladies!
